IPC Sell Classic Boat to Chelsea Publishing

dum loquor, hora fugit

Must get on with polishing the stanchions and greasing the flagstaff sheaves....

Nemo me impune lacessit

The motto of the Order of the Thistle carved above the drawbridge entrance to Edinburgh Castle.

One of my soldiers, on guard, was asked be an American tourist:

"Hey, what does that mean?"

He replied:

"No 4 tonners beyond this point".

[QUOTE Civilli, si ergo.
Fortibus es in ero.
Gnosis Mare, Thebe trux.
Vatis enim? Causan Dux...[/QUOTE]

The version my grandfather gave me was:

Ceedem lorrez derdego, forte lorrez inaro. Demaint lorrez, demare trux, fulla cowsan ensan dux.

But his Latin never was much good!

Or as in the well known climax of 'Julius Caesar', " Ert, you Brute ! "

Nil El Illigitimo Carborundum...:)

And the RAF motto " Per Ardua Ad Astra Asbestos " ; " you can't get me, I'm fireproof ! "

Sale to Chelsea

Hello forumists. Grumpy Dog here (AKA CB news ed!). We are now in Chelsea getting settled in. No need to run to WoodenBoat, as our forum will continue in much the same manner. Watch this space, as they say...

Fear not, Classicistas, IPC have let us keep our East COast forum, and they never have had a title called East Coast Mudlarks Monthly. Niether yet have they had a title called Liveabords Cheaply.
You remain a valuable, attractive information source, and thus an asset to the whole site.
Don't leave, I love reading stuff I have no intention of getting involved with!

Chelsea and IPC

Yes, that is correct. Chelsea has bought Yachts and Yachting as well as Classic Boat - as well as, for that matter, Racecar Engineering... we (Classic Boat that is) are already in the Chelsea offices, by the river (even got a river view!), and near some lovely old boats. As I said earlier, our forum will continue in much the same manner as before, so please stay calm and carry on!

Please excuse me if I'm wrong ( it has been known during eclipses etc ) but it seems 'Classic Boats' - like Falmouth Working Boats, Dragons, J Class or even a lovingly varnished Scorpion dinghy, and for that matter famous women since Cleopatra, all come under the heading ' The World would be a poorer place without them, but I don't fancy the running costs myself ' !

Maybe 'Classic Boat Magazine' sadly falls into the same category, I only buy the occasional copy but have best wishes for those with the enthusiasm, skills and money to keep our heritage alive...
