Here's somthing that has been bugging me for a while. The two IPC mags much beloved of this chapter quite undertsadably run boats for the journos to play, er I mean work on, but they seem to be the wrong way round.
MBM is the mag for the normal guy - covering Consul boats, 25 footers up to the 40 footers and the odd 50 footer. MB&Y on the other hand seem to be aimed at the luxury end of the market, with the custom yachting feature and boats reviewed well and truely in the 40ft plus catagory apart from the odd interetsing one below that.
So why do MBM, the peoples mag run the £400k princess, while MB&Y choose to run the much more modest Beneteau Monte Carlo 37? Nothing wrong with either of course, and I subscribe to both mags but it seems a bit backwards.
this is not for the first time either - MB&Y have run a Nimbus Nova 30, a Sunseeker Fishing thing and of course the Flyer 12 (which was a bit more pricey I suppose). MBM have run a Phantom 42, a Broom 38 and now the Princess 42.
Any reasons?
