I have bought an apple plug-in card reader to transfer photos/videos to my ipad2. It recognises SD cards as soon as they are plugged in, opens the photos prog. and downloads the photos very quickly.
However, when I plug in the video camera SD card it downloads the content as stills. I have the iMovie app installed which I thought it would recognise and download to.
Any suggestion as to what is wrong?
Thanks.

I'd call Apple support after checking your video camera is using either H.264 or MPEG4 to save the files. If not then probably not supported.

DCIM

Some video cameras take a thumbnail snapshot to help id the clip, you may be accessing these. The iPad camera adapter can only find files that are in the directory called DCIM. Stick the SD card in a pc and see where the files are stored. This is a real PIA since I wanted to use the iPad to play back video I took on training courses to save lugging lap top around but this glitch means I would need to put the files through a computer before I can use the ipaD - useless. I believe that if you jailbreak the iPad - ie use unapproved software to unlock the apple system you can view any files using the adapter but you do invalidate any warranty. just google jailbreak iPad to see
