I am sure there must be some Forumites who have already tried and tested this nav route. Having almost got an apple stamp across the forehead we seem to be converting from windows kit. But now we have an iPad I am keen to explore it use as a chartlpotter. Already have Gps dedicated for dsc VHF and a handheld chart plotter for in cockpit, NASA dedicated AIS at the chart table. But with the n avionics app the screen on the iPad is a good size. Has anyone out there used an iPad including with AIS?
I think the gps is reliant on a phone signal and therefore offshore of no use.
All thoughts appreciated. Happy new year to all.

There has been some iPad/iPhone discussion on the mobo forum and it's been stated that the iPhone has a dedicated, inbuilt GPS, which does not rely on phone signal.
