iPad as a primary chart plotter - why wouldn't you?

Would love to see the circuitry for this set up. any chance?? thanks
There's a bit in the openplotter manual -
https://sailoog.gitbooks.io/openplotter-documentation/content/en/
Temperature sensors all string together on 3 wires and voltage/Barometer sensor's are on whats called i2c so communicate over 2 wires plus 2 for power. There should be loads on Google - thermometers are ds18b20, voltage is ads1115 ,pressure is bmp280.
My setup is actually a bit more complex as it all goes into a little board called esp8266 which then sends all the data to the raspberry pi over wifi. Been very stable so far. The raspberry pi records everything once a minute as well and sends everything out over wifi as signalk and nmea9183.

Hi, we have a couple of ipads which we use with iSailor. Has been great in both Greece on charters, but also use around South of France, Corsica and Sardinia. We have a chartplotter gps at chart table, and have considered putting a new plotter on wheel pedestal, but hard to justify the high cost of a decent size plotter, when ipads handle it all with ease.

We have a very secure mount on pedestal rail, and this summer will fit a waterproof usb charge point. We have a ipad 2 with sim slot, so built in gps, but also ipad air 2, that doesn't have gps! However bought a very cheap wifi gps reciever on ebay, which we have by chart table downstairs, and works perfectly.

Light glare on screen not such a problem when you have a bimini over cockpit, so little on downside.
