hope you have a good time, just got back from there, did three days and the Gala Ball Wednesday, very, very busy, great weather and great atmos. As people have said keep your eyes open you wouldn't believe what some folk do..... like the little raggies tacking in the path of the car ferry...like with 100yrds of the bow- don't these folk have brains /forums/images/icons/wink.gif The Harbour Master is curently piloting all ferries in and out of Cowes, all lit up and siren going.

Should be good and watch out for the Police in a rib with video cameras /forums/images/icons/blush.gif

Have fun

Well we went and had a great time. The weather was perfect. I had 8 people (7 and me) in all and this was the maximum amout. The fireworks really impressed everyone especially the two who had not been before. Theycouldn't believe how many boats were out there. Does anyone know how many were estimated.

After it was over we sat tight as the mad heads flew off in every direction - some without lights. We then pulled up the anchor and headed slowly back. It was my first night trip in charge of a boat and coming up the Beaulieu River was something else. I don't know if anyone does this trip at night and can give any tips. I found the the enterance to be the worst part but the GPS help a lot.

Got home at 12.30 having had a great evening and will certainly do it again.

<hr width=100% size=1>Take care.

we had a great time, well impressed with it all, we got there about 8 ish and just bobed about till it started, decided nt to anchor up where we were as I like the idea of being able to get out of the way quickly! There were as predicted some nutters, I have to say I was suprised though as it seemed to be the people in the mose 'sensible' looking boats that were doing the silly stuff!! There were the mad folk in some of the ribs but did not bother us cos atleast they realised we were not moving and went round, unlike a few raggies I could mention! Did anyone else see the Camel Trophie rib with all the people hanging off the roof rack thingy, mad, but they looked like they were having fun!

The way back was not as frightening as I was expecting, being my first night journey and all, we held off for 20 mins or so to let the madness subside. We did almost run over a few nutters in ickle boats with no lights in the solent, how mad are they??

All of the kids (including myself) enjoyed the fireworks. Decided to head towards Bramble bank and arrived at 21.10 with very few other boats about. Bobbed around until 21:30 then enjoyed the fireworks, especially the smiley faces. Left as soon as the fireworks finished so missed most of the rush back up Southampton Water. The kids (including myself) had great fun spotting the green flashing lights on the way back and arrived back waiting for next year.
