iOS7 - for those who need to know this

After installing i0S7 last night I have decided that I think it is pretty nice. Some attractive features, the white background works well for me particularly on photos.

One improvement on i06 is the password screen: previously, if you had a "7" in your password it was too easy to end up making an inadvertent emergency call - or nearly doing so.

My son is a victim of fashion i.e. has an iphone. He updated to the new iOS and having shown me, it looks like Apple have run out of their own ideas and started to mimmick Android. Onwards and upwards it is then... :o

For the life of me I can't see how people get all excited by these things! Especially when Apple release something to the market. It's just a smartphone or tablet, all of which do much the same thing regardless of iOS/Android/Microsoft. What's the big deal about iOS7?

BTW I am in the I.T./Comms biz and very tech savvy! Any phone or tablet is available to me whenever it suits me, but frankly give or take a few things they are all much the same. Maybe that's why my reaction to the excitement is that I have seen it all before - many many times! I am sure many others in the biz will think much the same as me.

Same could be said for boats, planes, cars, stamps, birds, football, food or anything else people have as interests/hobbies.. It's whatever floats your boats (excuse the pun :) )..

Aha, so now we only need to work out the other 3 digits and the order they are in for your pass code! You really should be more careful with your security

Now all I need from you is your mothers maiden name......

Don't tell him Pike!

Worth it for the swipe up shortcut menu from the home screen IMHO. Not having to dive deep into the settings menu to turn on/off Wi-Fi/Bluetooth is worth the download alone!
I've had all those features for ages as use a jailbreak. I never consider an update until it can be jailbroken. I absolutely hate the way the IT industry constantly updates things for the sake of it, doesn't test the consequences fully, and allows no rollback. "Do not update" is always ticked on everything for me.

Android have copied them for years, they've just adopted some of the ideas that Android have developed for them in doing so...:)

Yes, I opened the link. A fairly pathetic article from a failed master of wit.

As a heavy iPhone user, I can tell you a couple of factual things.

1/ iOS7 has more features, that is to say my iPhone 5 now does things it didn't used to...

2/ iOS7 is more modern, and was free.

If you don't like that, you are seriously in need of a life rethink. The program is customisable so you can always adjust the look to something more subtle, and that bit I wouldn't blame you for...

Aside from the poor UI 'improvements' the functional improvements are good, BUT since upgrading one of my iPhones the BATTERY drain has increased effecting battery life. The UI lacks definition and sadly seems to mimic some of Android's washed out appearance. The former UI while needing functional improvements was one of iOS's strong points. You could show an 80yo how to get going on an iOS device significantly easier than an Android device.
