I remember the article quote well. Assistance from powered craft was requested several times and there were at least two collisions with docks. It certainly convinced me that engineless cruising would not be my choice.
For the last 2 years I've 'been there, done that' and got the scars down the side of the boat..my new Beta 43 gets craned in tomorrow :encouragement:I remember the article quote well. Good point. They may have been expecting a gentle sail in light airs and not bothered with the preventer, then perhaps it blew up unexpectedly.
In which case the blowup would have been reflected in the 0400 snapshot, which is why I included that info to show it probably wasn't a bad forecast...Indeed, no such anomaly occurred in the entire area so I think it's somewhat unlikely scenario.
That rings a bell..Wasn't there something about DS crewing on a UK owned boat with a cranky petrol engine and he and another crew member used to park themselves out on the bowsprit while the others were trying to get the engine into life? Seem to remember it affected his ideas about having an engine?
