Inverter or generator

With economical use of lighting we do manage a 24 stop over in the summer, on one leisure battery , and we have one fridge.

When other boats are nearby people do run generators, or even their engines , to recharge batteries. The polite ones among them do try to minimise disturbance . Without doubt a generator running after dark or very early in the morning should be avoided. Even the best silenced generator is not silent.
Fumes from any exhaust are to be taken seriously as thay may enter the boat interior whan the boat is moored. If boats are moored close together you should also consider the possibilty of exhaust fumes entering a neighbouring boat.

The installation of solar panels might be worth considering. My neighbours boat has a wheelhouse roof to which he has fitted two large solar panels. As a result he is free of a need for shore power in the summer months so has the benefit of saved electricity cost even when in the marina. Unfortunately most boats have nowhere to accommodate panels of sufficient size.
