Hi guys,

Having looked at other units costing around £1000 - surely this can't do everything that they do can it??

I haven't asked the seller for more info yet, but looking at it, it seems like if you connect it to the mains it will charge the battery, and (I assume) allow power-through to the sockets to be just a mains charger. Disconnect the mains, turn it on and you have 3KW of inverted mains available!

Seems way to cheap to me - any thoughts?

You will find that it may not run all mains devices - especially the more sensitive ones which need a full sine wave supply.

and using its full mains power is going to really hammer your 12v battery at nearly 300 ampHr.

There's delivery at £65 on top; the cost of optional extras, and the possibility of import VAT from those nice people at HMRC too.

Also, its battery charging is a constant current 10amp. Which means that even if your batteries are fully charged they will still get 10a. Not good news - potentially.

The warranty is for a year only, and if it goes wrong YOU have to pay the costs of return postage.

That said, it does seem to offer very good value for money.
 
Yep all true.

To be honest, I would leave it switched off. When I wanted to boil a kettle or use a microwave I would start the engine, switch on the inverter, do what I wanted to do and then turn it off again and kill the engine.

I'd already worked out that at 300 ampHr a standard 100amphr battery would last 15 min at best before being very heavily depleted.

However the point about a constant 10 amp charge is a good one - I'll steer clear I think!

I want to boil a kettle and run a microwave - so I reckon a 2500W one will be enough, but I don't want to spend more than a hundred or two - certainly not the £800+ the good pieces of kit seem to want!
