I'm guessing it's not Portland USA. So boaty related text (of a sort) initially possibly altered to a generic introduction. All for benefit of the doubt but it did look odd.
N.B. JeannettAbott has posted similar things elsewhere in at least 3 other places. (e.g. http://www.ffnet.net/forum/member.php?u=7858 )
Different locations and occupations each time but Interests always contained similar "oddities" in language.
