Morning all.

Having hijacked a couple of threads recently I think its time I formally introduced myself to the masses herein, although at least one member will need no introduction and probably regrets ever getting to know me. :)

As yet i'm not a boat owner although I have spent rather a lot of time afloat over my 55 yrs both inland and coastal, and will hopefully be correcting this failing sometime in April/May. Although I currently live in Grantham, my plan is to have my own hole in the water in which to chuck some money in or around the R. Crouch area, Probably at Fambridge.

I've spent most of my working days since leaving the Navy as a truck driver, travelling all over the UK and some parts of Europe. Thats all behind me now though and i'm currently spending my time trundling along the black stuff as a courier Owner/Driver.

In my youth, I was a sea cadet and followed this up with a (very short) spell as a matelot. This time was followed by a very long spell as both a civilian and uniformed instructor with the sea cadets in Reading. (my home unit, TS Jervis Bay and with Slough Unit, TS Lion). As a general instructor, mainly with the new entries and as a specialist instructor, in Communications. (Don't ask me the morse code tho, that's the reason for my "very short" time in the navy.

So, after a couple of failed marriages (it was definitely me, apparently), i'm now happily tucked up in Grantham, yeh right! happy and Grantham in the same sentence, debateable.

Anyway, You can blame Bru for re-whetting my appetite for all things afloat, I do!
and by my reckoning you can blame him for me inflicting myself on the forums, and anyone one I happen to meet in the future, as a result of this introduction.

Thats enough from me for now, mainly because i've just started boring myself, so...

Fair winds all

No doubt i'll be popping up now and again, and will certainly be asking advice from the wise members of this and other forums when the time arises.

I would like to tender my deepest and most abject apologies to the assembled multitude for inflicting the aforementioned "friend" upon you all

I jest, of course, Tony and I have been mates for more years than I suspect either of us can remember (never mind care to remember, actually remember!).

How did you do that? I thought I had to log in with my password to see that page. Can you change my details? That seems a bit sinister.

There's nothing sinister about it, only you can change your details and you can choose to put as much or as little as you wish in your profile

Your profile tells other forum users what you want them to know about you. Generally, blank profiles are viewed with a degree of suspicion until a poster is known to be a genuine person (there are those who delight in creating false online persona for fun or mischief. Not that anyone on the ECF would do such a thing. Ahem!)

6d for your thoughts :)

Ahem
To be fair, gentlemen, use of any other persona has been nil and none and not for a long time now, worse thing management did was to appoint FC a part time mod, didn't half curse that choice as I think he knows at least some of the alternatives ;) I wouldn't want to put him in the position of having to choose between being a friend and being a mod on here so no other logins have been used by yours truly for some time as I respect him enough to expect him to jump on me :ambivalence:
Not that way either, to the naughty minded types

OK thank you. I've added some detail but I don't really want to put my address in, I wouldn't do that on any other forum.
