I have been examining a variety of marine weather sites (most of which were listed on here about a month ago) and I've been suprised by the frequently differing wind and wave forecasts. Does anyone have a particular favourite that they have found to be relatively accurate?

For my Round Britain trip last year for the entire trip I used XC, Wind Guru and others and I found none of them at all accurate !

Not at all what I was expecting!

The only time they were reasonable was at times of very predictable weather where you really didn't need forecasts at all to tell you what would happen... generally spells of very settled or very unsettled weather. Everything else was not accurate and they didn't agree.

Towards the end of the trip (9 weeks) I didn't take much notice and just looked at the pressure charts and looked at the weather and sea conditions I had to come up with a kind of forecast myself... seemed much more accurate!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

The most inaccurate part was sea state and wave height... hardly ever did it turn out as forecast. Wind wasn't too bad and weather was OK. But for me, being just 21ft, sea state was the most critical and it was totally unreliable!
