After a major computer "crash" I have lost all of the data previously stored (a lesson here for electronic navigators!).
I previously recorded from this site, a super web site for weather information in Portugal and Spain. I have tried searching the site but cannot find the reference (I think it was probably embodied in a different subject).
Can anyone recall the web site or indeed recommend alternatives?

try this. it is nominally uk but should give you what you need for the atlantic coast of iberia.

Take your point Ray, but it is basic good practice to back up your computer every so often. Don't know if you use a laptop or PC but we used a PC for several years and after our "crash"...water through a port-hole and down the back of the unit two weeks later the phone lead shorted out. After that, installed a seond hard drive and evry time installed new programme etc. just copied it to the other hard drive.

May pay you to print out this thread and copy all the addresses to a floppy or CD then you have a portable back up.

Great stuff, Nigel

A truly seminal work:

Could I add one more, which has more info appertaining to marine weather than all the others .

That is The NOAA site - www.mpc.ncep.noaa.gov

Apart from all the basic info this also allows you to look at the 500Mb forecasts which are very useful for forecasting any squash zones and unsatbility in the weather patterns

Good advice Phil. There is so much information on these threads (and I thank all who take time out to reply) to loose it all came as a shock and a dent in my preparations. The advice received has been invaluable for my forthcoming trip to the Med which starts on or about 1st May.

Just anothe one..Re: Internet weather sites

Try www.microclimat.net

Includes various animated forecasts/models, includes USAF data and forecasts for Europe. Also 500 mb. A glider pilot recommended it.

All these forecasts and tools, it's a shame we have to use PCs to access them.
