I'm considering an extended summer cruise on my boat, but anymore than a couple of weeks(we're planning for six)and I'll need to work, so a decent internet connection will be required.

Any recommendations? I've only used a BT hotspot in the past and the coverage isn't too great passed Windsor. Cheers:)

I've used a 4g Mifi from EE between Abingdon and Goring with no problems or loss of signal. Also had a lot of 4G signal around the more built up areas. This was good enough for me to work and fix servers etc as required.

I've used a Three sim in an iphone to tether my laptop and it's been fine up as far as Windsor, but not sure beyond that. Their hq is in Maidenhead, so I imagine that at least coverage is good there too.

Don't know about their mifi costs, but if you've got an old/spare smartphone then they do unlimited data and 4gb (effectively unlimited at the moment in my experience) a month tethering for under 20 quid a month.

I used to have one of the USB data sticks with a sim card inside it, but these days mosly just browse the internet on my phone or use it to create a hot spot for SWMBO's Ipad, also there always seems to be a BTFon hot spot somewhere.
