We have a Vancouver 34P, currently in Bangor NI, and plan to sail to Scotland, then to the Baltic this summer. For my job I need to maintain internet access, and wonder if anyone can advise on the best ISP for these areas. Our current ISP in Canada will not provide us service in Europe. My lap top is wireless compatible, if that helps.

Thank you

What do you need it for? Personally, I'm with MSN and have been for years, but I just use it from internet cafe's for keeping up with email when away from home. I have heard, but have no first-hand knowledge, that AOL is somewhat less than perfect.

I'm sure other forumites with more intimate knowledge than myself will give you some ideas.

BTW, which way are you going from Bangor? Round the top, or through the Caledonian Canal?

My mobile is registered with vodafone and I have just opened a (free) email account with them which offers both email and webmail and uses a standard vodafone dial up account (an 07836 number) or GPRS facilities. It seems to work well and charges are very reasonable. With GPRS you only pay for what you download. In the UK this is around pound 2 per megabyte. Abroad probably 3 times the price but it is on a pro rata basis and emails tend to be quite small anyway. You can find details on www.vodafone.net

Just use your mobile phone. You can keep your exisiting ISP for incoming mail. I've written all about Internet access, and costs in the Baltic, on our website here

If you want some more info, PM me
