Internet Access & Square Mile International

How many of you have seen the posters for Internet access to your boat from Square Mile at £25 a month and signed up.
Were you aware that the price on the posters was misleading and should have said £29.37 (£25 + vat.) In addition were you aware of the £80 set up cost?
FYI I have made a formal complaint to Trading Standards about these posters. They are misleading. They make no mention of exc VAT or the additional costs.
Anyone who has signed up or wishes to complain can contact Buskinghamshire Trading Standards at tsd@buckscc.gov.uk or visit www.buckscc@gov.uk
I don't object to companies making money. I do object to companies trying to mislead consumers. Better check your first bill!

Is it working yet?

Square Mile wrote to me and said that Haslar was now up and running, but I can see no network on my wireless notebook. - nothing at Weymouth either last weekend.

I wrote to Square Mile and queried whether it really was working yet - I got no reply from them

I don't know. But I don't want to lay out until the wrinkles are ironed out and I start to hear a good word or two.
It is extremely expensive setting up this type of operation and there are a few companies competing for the business. I expect we will see a shake out eventually. At the moment I believe it's a nice to have but really only worth it for liveaboards. Square Mile set me off on a bad foot by mis-representing their prices. If they were honest upfront I would be more inclined to part with my money.
