I used to use International Interdeck 809 deck paint. I was perfectly happy with that colour.

For some reason, in 2002 'they' decided to discontinue it.

Nearest colour was then Interdeck 339. So I started using that. I didn't like the colour as much as 809 but I have got used to it.

Now I need to repaint the deck.

Guess what? Interdeck 339 has been discontinued.

I suppose that International have employed some poncy trendy arts graduate who thinks boats are like fashionable houses so it's cool to bring out a new colour range every few years!

Grrr!

If its any consolation 'parsifal' you're not alone. Thoroughly browned off with paint that's now like water, varnishes that you can't keep a wet edge going with, and last but not least.... paint stripper that won't strip. All costing considerably more than they did just a few years back. Rant OFF///>>> :)

Paint your decks with Sandtex. Wide choice of colours, excellent non slip and when compared to International's offerings, dirt cheap.

Yes but which type? last time I used Sandtex (on a house) it had a rough texture and would have been ideal for a non-skid surface. But looking at the Sandtex website it now seems as if their masonary paints are only available in either smooth or satin texture.

The one you wants the "Fine Textured" variety. We have used this on our decks for several years. It is pretty effective, but needs renewing annually in high traffic areas such as the cockpit floor, most of the deck has lasted 5 years so far. I astil using the original 5 litre can which I think cost £9.95!! I apply it using a small varnish roller which seems to produce the surface finish required.
