Re: How it happened: Firefly report in full:

Regular contributor BarryD delighted journalists when he confirmed that he will be contributing live to the ybw forums throughout November and Decemeber, as the ARC rally unfolds. He was in excellent form on Friday evening shortly before the start off Las Palmas, with for final checks and a short trip planned for Saturday in advance of the starting gun. At 25 feet, Firefly is easily the smallest boat amongst the record fleet. Asked for his comments about his planning for the change from UK and Spanish coasts to the USA, Skipper BarryD explained that starting from the Spanish Coast and then Tenerife in the Canaries, he had simply continued through the holiday brochure until he found the page all about Florida, and would probably fly from Heathrow. “Does ARC mean All Round Chichester?” he asked. Embarrassed reporters quickly paid the bill and left Barry in the pub…

Re: How it happened: Firefly report in full:

You mean I've signed up for the wrong race? Oh dear... Oh Dear oh Dear. Still flat out and in the right conditions I should be able to make it half way across the channel before it all goes strangly quiet...

And then we can hoist the main sail.

Ahh, no mast.

OK break out the beer and someone call Sea Start, oh and get me a bucket.
