Internal "bobstay"

I want to rig an cruising chute from the bow roller of our new-to-us 32' Beneteau. However, the manner in which the bow roller is affixed it needs a bobstay, which wouldn't be a problem to rig between it and one of the forestay chainplate bolts further down the bow except that no matter what way I look at it, it would foul the anchor. So I'm considering fitting the 'bobstay' in the front of the anchor locker between the lowest forestay chainplate bolt and as far forward as it can go. Obviously it won't have the same mechanical advantage, but only by three to four inches.

Does this seem sensible?

Like Rolly Joger I'm struggling to understand what your suggestion is. Whether you're fitting a short sprit or not. I'll attempt to answer the question I think you're asking. I had the same problem on my Ben 323. The only way I could fit a short pole/bowsprit would have stopped the anchor locker lid opening. Just 3 to 4 inches is in no way enough to fix a pole to if that's what you're thinking. Even with a bobstay. The bobstay will hold it down but will not stop lateral forces especially with only 3 or 4 inches bolted through the deck. In the end I bit the bullet and shackled a block to the end of the bow roller fitting and ran the tack line through that. Turned out I didn't need the clearance for the chute from the forestay I thought I needed and it worked fine with none of the complication of a removable sprit.

Thanks guys. In hindsight I realise my post was a little less than clear, possibly even to me! I think I have a way forward for now.

You could look at the Selden Bowsprit Pole arrangements for exactly that task. There are many photos online showing practicable variations, and if you're as much of a cheapskate as myself, you will find ideas there showing 'alternatives' which might meet the need.

OP wants to fly a chute from the bow roller and is examining the best means of reinforcing it so that it does not get pulled upwards. His suggestion is to connect it internally to an existing forestay chainplate on the bow, below the roller, most likely using stainless threaded stud, I would imagine. I think this would work.

Thanks for clearing that up. My understanding of his question was way off.
