Its main feature is that it is porous so stands up to variations in temperature and humidity plus UV. These are not properties that have much value internally. The downside is that it does not produce a particularly good cosmetic finish, especially on large panels like bulkheads. This is acceptable (at least to some) for external trim, but internally there are far better alternatives such as the ones I suggested. Of course there are many other suitable finishes for internal cabinet work as well.
