No the didn't. They used a glue called Aerolite, it was developed for the purpose of building the Mosquito.
I have a model boat built out of DH scraps and Aerolite glue, it was built for my father by my grandfather who worked for DH at the time.

That brings back memories.
I used Aerolite building my Mirror Dinghy, as I remember formic acid was used as the catalyst and really used to sting when it got in a cut
FWIW I've just bought some Cascamite and I'm using it to glue up the joints on a garden bench that has seen better days, its really nice to work with and the excess cleans up easily with a damp cloth.
They make the point though that joints need to be under compression while it cures, so if you cannot clamp or screw your work then this probably isn't the glue to use
