Interior water leak

Help please has any body else had this problem ?
Boats a Sealine F33 and after heavy rain (tonnau cover removed) we get water
dripping from the timber soffit by the small cloaks cupboard by the
rear doors.Our initial thoughts are that the Fly Bridge drain and pipe
is to blame and will be testing this theory at the weekend but any
other ideas wouldl be gratefully received.

This is quite a common problem, what you have is rain water leaking into the cabin part of the boat. To fix it, find the source and stop the water coming inside.

Try a PM to "Roy" as I believe he had much the same problem on his F33.

Have you taken off the small horizontal board beneath the clock& barometer? If you look up you will see the external air vents which I have noticed let in water if I get a green one over the flybridge. Could let in rainwater if windy. Dave.

I agree with ShipsWoofy. This is probably rainwater leaking into the cabin. The best way to fix it is to find where it's coming in and then seal it.
Works every time!

With cars that leaked (definition of Ford) we used to lock an apprentice in the boot with a torch and play a hosepipe all over the suspect area.
If he shouted that he'd found it we went for a cuppa.

Yes, we had a drip drip from the overhead soffit above the wine cabinet. With the tonneau cover on and off too. Spoike to sealine and they reckoned on drain from f/b scupper which runs above this soffit board can crack with frosts or get choked, so we checked this first and all was well.

Having had water ingress on a new Maxum 2900scr previously, we had become 'experts' by now. So, we got the silicon gun and inspected every stanchion mount, screw hole and mounting point on the f/b and around the whole of the boat and where in doubt, we scraped out the old fillings and put in fresh silicon. Within a few days, the drips had slowed to occasional drops - like one or two a day. We had it cracked we reckoned!! Yahoo! Anyway, after making a fast turn or three we discovered that the leak was back - like really bad now. Reason? There was a buildup of water lying between the f/b forrad and the saloon aft and the turns at speed just tipped it all aft. That was the last water that ever appeared and if you know the west coast, you'll know that it rains there at times!!!!

We figured that the culprit was either one of the mounts for the dodger on the f/b or/and the mounting for the spotlight forrad of the dodger. Both these are in line and higher than the space that leads aft port side to the soffit area in doubt.

I will bet that your problem will be similar. Get some good sealant, pick a dry day and do every mounting point possible. Don't worry about doing a neat job because you can rub off dried silicon from grp very easily with a little t cut and a rough cloth or nylon pot scourer. Let us know how you go? and good luck. Roy
