Reading some posts sipping the Pilsner Beer laced with Tequila .....

Makes one realise that some are 'spoofs' !! Yep - I'm on my ! marks again ......

Honestly - is boating that difficult ?? Do we really need all the gizmo's / lectronics ....... what happened to leisurely cruising ??????

Using a sextant is more leisurely than a gps, or trad chart work easier than a plotter?

Leisurely cruising tends to have gone along with leisurely lifestyle. Got to be back at the office on Monday etc

Like a lot have progressed to GPS etc. - why ? Its easier to sort leisure sailing etc.

But my point is not the GPS etc. - but the sort of 'do I need this technical bit etc. - bordering on the insane !!'

Sorry - some of you lot may have money to burn - but me ? I economise and am proud of it .... I sail safe - well I like to think so !! I win regattas, I own 3 boats and I guarantee I spend less than the majority on these forums .....

I don't understand why so many have such trouble finding better alternative sources etc. when they are promulgated often via these very forums ..... caravan shops etc.

I really need to have a holiday !!!

Re: Tell you what

Nigel I'll swap you that tequilla & Beer for a Duck & a box of Red Ball Pens. I really feel I could use one about now. When are you going to get that engine sorted?

What would you do ?

Engine sswamps and stops ..... furling gear rips out of deck, you are coming out of BEmbridge on falling tide ..... genny is horizontal from masthead overpowering anything you can do .... ie run up mainsail etc.

Anyway it was Bembridge Sands and I spoke tyo CG who called the RNLI for twoing practice !! Pity they made a short tow and I couldn't stop when THEY run aground in front of me .... on the way in .... crushed my pulpit and stanchions etc.

Oh well - live and learn ......
