Interesting Smartphone development...

It would be easy for them to make all new phones comply with IPX7, and to have some resistance to physical shock, but then how would they sell so many replacement phones?

My Motorola defy (android with Navionics) has been working well for over a year, much of the time under water or in spray.

I bought it as a second Nav option to a handheld Garmin for cat raid events and it's survived dinghy sailing and capsizes at over 20 knts, as well as under water photographs, although the operation of the touch screen gets a little tricky sometimes.

It's been down at least 2m in salt water It's attached to a lanyard and sits in my bouyancy aid front pocket, I've used it to clock max speeds (always slower than it feels)
