Interesting Policy - UK dealers selling at USA prices

Ah, but what about todays sterling price? I swap my prices for sterling straight from the manufacturers RRP using 1.45 euro's to the pound. Ok, right now it is 1.46, but with your $ example it isn't 2.00 for every pound but 2.025 - so what would the benefit be of me advertising in euro but haveing to do this rough calculation for every quote? The maths is the same, so i might as well make it easier for my customers and put the prices in the currency they are actually buying/paid/have savings in.

You really are being a bit over the top there.

The world price for a Marlow is quoted in USA dollars - all I was doing was a quick rough calc on the price today - end of subject.

The world price for your boats is the Euro dealer price. Just because I chose to give a rough approx in sterling does not in any manner invalidate my point - I am paying in $ and being quoted in $.

Now if you advertised in Euro at the world price the change in the Euro would not matter to you. In your example you are quoting just over 1% too much today and would have to adjust every day,

If you adjust your price to sterling every day then accept orders on tha basis with phased payment you are taking a currency risk.

Yes but your so called 'world price' is still a meaningless figure as the actual price you pay would depend on the discount on the 'world price' a dealer gave to get your order so any canny buyer would still be asking dealers for best prices and playing off one against the other

Yup he did and he was wrong but this time he's probably right /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The Fleming 55 at SIBS is priced at around £800k + VAT. Thats inflation /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Of course you can bargain for a deal but in practice with the larger boats its not that easy to go outside the country - the world price is still the base price just like any price you are quoted now but its on a clear base and in the case of that Fleming would be lower. best to start bargaianing at a lower price. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Or are you saying that the old system of Rip-off-Britain is better?

I think its a UK price as it quoted in pounds only and they did a lowering of the price last Spring because of a weakness of the dollar. Seeing as you have to order and wait for delivery its far better and cheaper if they gave a world price in USA dollars.

Indeed, they should go back to "world" pricing. People spending this sort of money know about exchange fluctuations and can either benefit from it ( as I did in 1990 ) or buy forward if they wish to fix the cost.
It is nice to the two-dollar pound back!

No I'm saying you can bypass rip off Britain by buying elsewhere
