I've recently seen two interesting motor vessels. One called Zephyrus (sp?) the other called Coracle. Coracle is anchored in Jennycliff Bay Plymouth today. They are not the normal big speed boat type. They're more like little ships, I wondered if anyone knows them? I'll try to take a photo if Coracle is still there when we leave.

Watched one similar to this in the marina a few winters ago. Bad weather and a slight swell . The boat was rolling about so badly that the couple living aboard had to move ashore to a hotel !
Seemed like it was top heavy

Or it was just in the wrong position that is parallel to the swell. We have this yacht here in the marina in sanremo, is parked so that the waves are almost perfectly parallel to the boat, and as soon as a bit of wave comes in - the rolling start ! Maybe this is the reason its for sale...

Grand Banks on the same pontoon and it wasn,t rolling nearly so badly.
The Grand Banks would roll once or twice and settle but this boat appeared to generate a pendulum effect and just kept on going !

Coracle is owned by Two Hooter of this parish. It`s a great little ship as I can testify after a delivery trip from Padstow to Penarth as crew. A great overnight experience up the Bristol Channel.
And it’s on the same pontoon as me in Sutton Harbour. A proper little ship.

Hi! Yes, it was us in Jennycliff.
Coracle is an N40. Zephyros is an N43. The owner has posted on here but I don't think he's a regular.

Nordhavns are not top heavy, some of them just look as though they might be. They are all category A and one N40 did a circumnavigation in the long-lost days when such voyages were possible. Theoretically our boat will right itself from any heel angle, like a lifeboat, if all the portholes and hatches are shut. An N52 has been recorded as recovering from a 69.1 degrees heel. Round keel full displacement boats are always prone to rolling at anchor, so we have a flopper stopper, but have only used it 3 times. Under way we don't roll because we have very effective stabilisers. When it comes to a winter berth we are wimps and always try to hide behind a lock. Our current berth in Sutton Harbour is just perfect. I hang a weight on a string in the wheelhouse and sit at home watching the online camera while storms rage, and the pendulum scarcely moves.

Coming out of Salcombe a few days ago we saw Lady Grey going the other way towards Dartmouth. I’m pretty sure she’s a Nordhavn, probably about 50’. All vey distinctive.
My son espied AnnieM for sale, a newish 62 footer for £1.8m. I’m trying to persuade him to go for it!!

Our boat, Coracle, was originally named Annie M. The first owner traded her in for an N47, then upgraded to the N60 which is now for sale. All his boats have the same name.
We are happy with the N40 and are not tempted to trade up. For a couple of novice boaters who are perhaps not as young as they were she is the ideal size, if only because we can nearly always find a berth. And then there's the cleaning. We cleaned our boat yesterday. Merely thinking about cleaning an N60 makes me feel ill.
