Currently tied up at home with a rotten chest infection so I picked up my old Ancestry sub which I’ve been studiously ignoring for ages. Had a look at my grandmother’s brother who I knew had died on a merchant vessel on the East Coast when it struck a mine. I’d found his name on the Tower Hill memorial when we visited Limehouse marina via an overnight stop at Queenborough in the summer (along with Independence of this forum) so I knew the vessel’s name.
Anyway, some rooting later I managed to find out that it had sunk just N. of the Isle of Sheppey and E. of SS. Montgomery, so on the way to Limehouse (and finding his name on Tower Hill we had pretty much sailed over it.
Pretty spooky, eh?
