Classic f up. Done a lovely job applying Interdeck paint to my boat. Lots of blue masking tape to get good lines etc. Read that it takes up to three days for the Interdeck to properly go off (obviously depending on temp).... I read this after finding although touch dry it was soft, (one footprint I needed to sort out after 16 hours drying). And so I leave the blue masking tape on until I can be sure the Interdeck is solid and hey presto, the masking tape is baked on, after 5 days. Yes it has been warm and sunny but I thought blue tape was stuff you could do this with......So how do you get the masking tape off? Any paint safe solvent recommendations or other tricks? I used a whole roll and a bit:mad:
(PS The blue masking tape was from Toolstation)

Warming with a hair dryer or hot air gun is the usual way of getting sticky things off. Dunno about blue masking tape but its the first thing I'd try.

the blue tape from toolstation looks like its the insulation tape. and not masking tape,

Not all BLUE tape is the same..............

Its called masking tape in the catlog and on the website!

Insulation tape is called "insulation tape"

Definitely blue masking tape........
Will try the hair dryer (had read about that elsewhere but thought that might be replicating the "baking" process that appears to have happened.) Maybe I should soak the tape too first. I know I can experiment but hoping someone might have done exactly the same thing..... the long curing of the Interdeck and the access around the boat while it does seems to invite this problem. Part of the purpose of my post is to serve warning so amateurs like me don't repeat my mistake..........

TRy to get hold of band aid/or sticky plaster remover. Might be available in chemists. I know hospitals use it to remove plasters from children where they have stuck like the proverbial to the blanket (the plasters, not the children!).

Good luck

Masking tape should be removed as soon as the painting is finished. If left until the paint is dry the edges will chip.
Yep. And pull it so that it is slightly towards the paint, don't pull it straight back in line with the tape. That way any stringy bits in the paint will lie back into the paint and flow in.

However the catalogue claims
14 day clean removal medium tack tape. Special adhesive resists sunlight degradation. Use on metal, wood, walls and glass
so that's a bit of a bummer.
