Intercooler cleaning

Hello,

Is it safe to use citric acid to clean and flush out the cooling system, and if so where do I get it? I use it on my kettle and coffee machine - is the same stuff good enough to use on my engine?

Hello,
I started a thread with the same title on 4th Feb and had a cpl of helpful replies. In the end I used a descaler (oust) which fizzed for about two mins and stopped. Flushed it through after with a hose holding it against the stack holes, Blasted through fine and my engine is 1989. The air fins I sprayed with an aerasol gunk and then again flushed it with water.
My engines are Volvo TAMD 41b's.

Thanks Colin - I have looked at rydlyme and it's not available locally. So as you have confirmed a domestic cleaner could do just the same job.
