For about 10 years now we have been insured through Saga, who's policies are underwritten by MS Amlin. We have always been happy with them, although we have never had cause to make a claim and the cost appears to be very reasonable. However, during the period since last March they have been very poor on communication and so perhaps it is time to shop around and I would welcome any suggestions or recommendations.
The boat is a 2008 Rinker 280ec, berthed in the Municipal Marinna in Weymouth UK.

There are changes afoot in the boat insurance industry and Saga are reported to be withdrawing from the market so you may not have a choice about changing. I would previously have recommended Y Yacht Insuranec but they have just sold to Topsail and there are reports of very high premium renewals.

I am with Y so don’t have any current recommendations so my only advice is to have a look on here, Scuttlebut and PBO as the topic is cropping up regularly.

I have always used Bishop Skinner Marine and have really been happy with their service over the years. In recent years, I had two blooming boats hit my boat whilst it was berthed in the marina, one to my old F43 and one to my P45. BSM dealt with them quickly and without fuss, without affecting my NCB. I am expecting an uplift later this year... ;-(

Thanks for your replies. I've just got an online quote from GJW that is £100 more than the last renewal from Saga and of course the Saga renewal may have increased this year, assuming that they do indeed offer one. So the GJW figure looks OK and I think that we may go with that.
