Now, whats the statistical chance of finding another planet like that then? Ha.

Yard Letters ...

The letter issued by the Yard for my boat was literally only a couple of lines of text on their headed paper ... and signed.

Quote :

"To whom it may concern

This is to confirm that “Superanne” owned by Mr N Luther has had an engine refit last winter including the rebuilding of the engine bearers and a new shaft.

It is also our considered opinion that the yacht “Superanne” is in all respects seaworthy and fit for sailing in local and offshore waters.

Yours Sincerely"

Unquote.

So what's problem ..... of course they put "our considered opinion" to give them some room to manoeuvre in event of trouble ....

The matter is really down to whether the yard knows your boat and that means that they should've had some work to do on her. As you see from my letter - I had serious work done and they knew the boat well ...

Insurance Co. accepted without problem and boat was insured.

Re: Insurance without a survey?? and Chocolate

I think that if we are to pusue this topic, we should shift it to "Scuttlebut" other wise we will be getting our botties smacked!

But just out of interest, would you care to substantiate your statistics, perhaps quoting your sources? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

WOA discount ?????

Not trying to start argument ... but friend of mine with a Westerly didn't find that .... he was quoted substantially more than KC Powell - who he eventually signed with ... then later changed to Giles who still offer him best deal.

In fact he found that various repairs / refit stuff via WOA was more expensive than going elsewhere ....

But he may be a one-off ??? I only know his case .....

I am in the Westerly Owners Association, and I did try Nav & Gen, they wanted a survey!

They said because my boat is more than 25 years old, I said, well it's actually 38 years old and if it's made it this far it aint likely to fall to bits next week is it? They didn't seem impressed /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

falling to bits !!!

I like it .... couldn't agree more !!!!

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a boat of 1975 vintage ..... like you say - it's got this far - unlikely to fall apart tomorrow !!
