I am in the process of coding the boat. I need to charter just enough to cover annual costs. Does anyone have experience of the cost of annual insurance cover for bareboat? The boat is 37 LOA. Thanks a lot.

Usual insurance warranties required by Insurer are:

Yacht is effectively crewed (skipper plus 1st mate suited for sailing area (ha!).

Charter is managed by competent firm, who will check bona fides of the Skipper plus First Mate and set cruising limit if required (Ha!!),

Yacht is Coded and equipped to relevant MCA standard.

Charter Managers provide effective handover / safety training (HA HA bloody HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).

I used to have Pantanius for private use only, but who did quote for adequate BB charter cover, but which was too expensive, so I switched to Navigators and General. Much cheaper and good cover.

Check for cover provided in the event of 'sailaway theft'.

Never made a claim so I don't REALY know how good the insurance was.
