Just bought a house in France and a long lease berth in St.Cyprien ... what's best to do with insurance? At home I'm with Haven K-J with a 12 miles off policy. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this changed to a similar foreign policy or would I have to do something with a French Ins.Co. I can find out by phoning them but I'm currently in the S of F and wondered if anyone has been though this particular hoop, and if so ..... etc? Boat going down by transport May or June.

I suggest just amend your cruising zone with your UK insurer. My boats have been in SofF for >10yrs and always insured by a Uk insurer, and of course I declare that the home port is in SofF. The only local insurance I've had to buy is for French-plated cars. UK insurers do not generally want to insure foreign plated cars, even if owned by a UK resident folks

Good luck with the move to Med

I'm with a UK insurer, just have mallorca specified as the cruising ground, and the home port set to where the boat is moored in mallorca

Same here. Boat is UK registered but has always been located in SofF and insured through a UK insurer/broker with the home port and cruising area correctly reported/described - never had any problems or any challenges. Property (contents) insurance in Monaco and France is arranged through Aon in the UK, but motor insurance and buildings insurance is all done locally.
