My first boat had NASA Target instruments (log, depth, wind). My second boat had NASA Clipper (log, depth, wind).

A boat I am looking to purchase doesn't have any instruments so I'm looking for recommendations. I never really had any issue with the NASA stuff aside from having to clear out the log paddle wheel occasionally, but they seem a bit long in the tooth now. I'm surprised they still don't have any NMEA2000 units as I'm sure they would fly out of the shops.

I use an iPad for nav (Savvy Navvy & Orca) so I think all I really need are depth and wind. Anybody have any recommendations for budget friendly instruments other than NASA? Or are they still the best bet for basic & budget instruments. NMEA2000 networking would be nice, but not really critical for me.

If all you want is wind and depth NASA will be hard to beat. Not the best in the World, but for the money.......

The GPS repeater is a great addition if you have the means to feed it. I also use a tablet/Navionics for nav but these things don't like being outside in the rain at all and coming in to port on a dark wet night, it's great to have speed, distance, and cross track error always available in the cockpit. I have an old Garmin 128 for the source info. It's the only time that I sometimes yearn for a cockpit plotter.
