Instructions not to anchor in Osbourne bay

I've used that shore quite a few times when I've returned from further afield & needed a rest or the tide has been against me at Portsmouth Harbour entrance so it's more than just a tacking issue it could be a matter of life or death.

Matter of life and death? We do have some intrepid adventurers in the Solent Ocean don't we :D Any conditions when Osborne Bay offered sanctuary, you could just as easily take refuge in Cowes. But there is still room if you wanted to take the harder option, the buoys are only in one small corner.

You think that's scary, he seems to fancy doing a 'brokeback mountain' with me, if I see a RIB approaching with a tent and a stetson on a pole I'll have no choice but to ram and unload my flares into it in self defence !
Not out in the RIB this week but will be heading back from Haslar to Cowes in my other boat on Saturday after 2 weeks away. If I see a the computer chair anchored inside the buoys at Osborne Bay, I'll come over and say "Howdy Cowboy..." :D

...Further claims from l'escargot that anyone entering the area should not be allowed in a boat at all led to our current little discussion, he doesn't seem aware that boats tack inshore especially when dodging the tide.
No not quite - you've gone off half cocked as usual and not read or understood the post - I said anyone who sailed their boat into buoys shouldn't be allowed in a boat. You seemed to think it was acceptable which would certainly bring your watch keeping/navigation abilities into question as would putting yourself aground tacking that close inshore. But then again you haven't actually seen the buoys or where they are yet have you?

A,

you said the area not into buoys themselves, which is why it struck me as particularly stupid

B,

I've seen the charts so know the area in question.

C,

Armed with a chart, tide table and a watch there's no pressing requirement to go aground

D,

The area is nothing more than a suggested swimming area relying on other peoples' courtesy and indulgence, it is not established with any authority whatsoever.

Sometimes in this sort of thread I am almost tempted to remove people from my ignore list! Only get to see half of the arguments otherwise. :D

You can click the top right corner of a post by someone in your ignore list, to see what drivel they have posted, without having to remove them from the ignore list.

I've done that a few times with the only person in my ignore list (Seajet), but nothing changes, he still posts the same drivel.

Does the fact that Ricky_S hasn't responded suggest that it is Seejit on ignore and not me?

That's good to know Paul. :)

So please tell me how to select 'ignore' please, I can think of the odd candidate ! :)

As for Paul Gooch, I wouldn't have it any other way, delighted that with his judgement he doesn't like what I say; except I'd like mutual 'ignore'...

That's the spirit! It's just wonderful you've found each other & we're all rooting for you both!

Will l'Escargot/Seajet be YBWs first civil partnership? I think you could really make it.

He's already said he'll never love me and he's not going to talk to me any more, but he keeps coming back so I live in hope... (I still want to be the one in the black hat :D )

You're right, why fight it, I find you irresistible !

Sadly not for the reasons you're purporting to hope for though...it seems you're more of the [removed by admin]

There is no need for this ugly homophobic language, Seajet. Having flexibility in such matters is part of the heritage of seamen.

I look forward to you and l'Escie setting off to circumnavigate in your Anderson 22, proudly flying the rainbow flag.

Perhaps you'll spend the first night in Osbourne Bay. I shan't say anything about being inside or outside buoys!

There is a remarkably lower chance of that than Glen Miller ditching his aircraft alongside saying " Sorry I'm late, how are we for time ? "...

I have had a private chat with L'escargot and I hope we have buried our differences, he's not so daft after all and seems a decent bloke when we explained to each other.

Sorry to disappoint those hoping for a wedding, the only boucquet aimed will be from a cannon :)

I guess that I will just have to accept our passion will remain unrequited and remember Seajet as my little [removed by admin] that could have been...;)

Not so much of the 'little,' let alone [removed by admin] but I sincerely hope and trust you'll never know; just keep to the side as we come past if in a sailing boat or run out of fuel. :)
