Installing Shore Power

I will be installing a more permanent shore power system over the next couple of weeks, as an ex-electrician i am fine with the majority of it, one quick question has popped up though, when i connect a mains battery charger, should i connect it to the alternator input of the splitter diode so it charges both batteries?

keep the 12v & 240v totally seperate
my charger output goes to the 12v buss bar i do not leave the charger on when i am not in residence so this way the charger output get isolated too when the batt isolators are off

As far as I'm aware most battery chargers have two outputs, so you can wire them directly to each battery bank, with an appropriate fuse at the positive battery terminals.

The way my shorepower is wired is such that there's a breaker on the shorepower panel that allows me to isolate the charger if I wish. As it happens I leave it permanently on to keep the batteries charged to run the fridge and, if necessary, the bilge pumps.
