No not really but if you are going to set yourself up as an expert get the advice right, TCL in ellesmere port are the eber specialists for this area and when i first started messing with them, alan the techie there taught me a lot, one of his bits of advice was NEVER tee into the feed to the engine. that is why eber supply a stack pipe with their kits. now i know that we all do things differently and usually get away with it, but if we reply to most posts and seem to set our selves up as experts then perhaps it is beholden of us to make sure that we give correct advice?

PS why set up a paraffin tank? it is not certain that we are going to lose the derogation, and if we do the cost of the diesel used by an eber is not exactly going to figure large in my concerns. if you are that worried about costs why not go down the route of making your own bio diesel? i doubt that the reveners are going to be checking every yacht diesel tank and if they do how will they tell whether duty has been paid OR indeed whether there is a need to pay duty on biodiesel used "off" road

Re: Also consider getting....

If the stack pipe entry is "2-3" above the bottom of the tank a good proportion of the tank capacity could be lost, in all my years working as a diesel fitter and then head of maintenance i never saw a stack pipe terminate 2-3 " above the bottom of the tank!!

Re: Try here instead...

when i did mine, as i said, i coated the tank cutter with grease to catch most bits, the tank on a bene is plastic anyway and i took out the sender giving me access to enter the stack pipe and hold while tightening the clamp nut, i also could then see the bottom of the tank and used my oil change vacuum pump pipe to suck out any tiny bits that did get in, since then i take out the sender occassionaly and can see the tiny bits of condensation water in the bottom of the tank and hoover them out.

[/ QUOTE ]First and foremost teeing into an engine feed line ia acceptable however one must take into account fuel flow rates and suction pressures - one does not want to have the poor eber trying to suck its fuel against too high a negative pressure as one could easily find in oil guzzling MoBo hence my second - or was it third post, saying fit a second tank or tap into the tank directly. Teeing would more than likely not work in this case. That was techie advise from Eberspacher tech services themselves, not some agent, so the advise was correct in its context.

As for why a paraffin tank, Well you seem to be the expert - figure it out for your self - there is a very good reason and it does not really have much to do with the cost of diesel.

I, for one, am not worried about the costs as I use SFA Diesel in a year unlike many MoBos.
