Installing a PSS shat seal.

The hot iron rich debris from the cutter will disperse very effectively and embed in the the fibreglass, later manifesting their presence as rust spots. Even in this enclosed spot - cover the cockpit well and consider your neighbours too


I recently cut my coupling off using a reciprocating saw - took about 10 minutes, frequently stopping to make sure I didnt damage the shaft
No sparks like a grinder and much more controllable
 
I made up this tool to compress the seal. Not strictly necessary just makes life much easier.

Photos attached - I thought I had drilled out the pin and couldn't understand why I couldn't shift the coupling with a puller - transpires I had not drilled it all out
