Hi there...I hope this is of interest to you. I'm working on a sea kayaking guide to the SW coast (Isle of Wight to Bristol) this year, basically I'm trying to write a detailed inshore description with as much tidal data and suchlike as I can include.
Obviously my interest is in kayaking but I've been reading a lot of yachting almanacs and pilots for source data. I'm surprised how few 'inshore' guides exist, all I have really found are Peter Bruce's books (e.g. 'Inshore along the Dorset Coast'). Is anyone able to recommend any more?
The book is following on from already-published guides 'Scottish Sea Kayaking' and 'Welsh Sea Kayaking' (see http://www.ukriversguidebook.co.uk/booksguidebooks.htm) and I hope to maintain the standards set by the authors of those titles. I am primarily aiming the book at kayakers of course, but I would be very interested to know if there are any particular aspects that might be of cross-over interest to sailors and other water users. Any thoughts welcome.
I've been keeping note of my progress here...
