Rather than alter their wording, (which might cause conniptions amongst some clerical bod) sign it "Completed to the best of my knowledge, XYZ"

possibly ?

If you are not witholding any, sign the thing.

If you are witholding do not sign it.

An insurance contract is a contract of upmost good faith. If there is something that you think might affect the policy, or that you think they might want to know, and you do not share this knowledge with them then they may deny cover in the event of a claim.

Even if the piece of knowledge has nothing to do with the cause of the claim.

use this info or do not use it entirely at your own peril.

Tony.

After my hurricane experience I now sign the following:

I fully understand that when I call you to tell you my boat has been wrecked ashore in a hurricane in a location you approved in writing, the FIRST thing you will say is lets see what exclusions we have for being there.

I fully understand you will take over a month to get a survey report and the sum set aside for repair will be 4-5 times less than the sum a surveyor I fly out at my expense recommends.

I fully understand that when you send a third party to estimate repair cost in order to break the deadlock and the sum is the same as my surveyor you will then dismiss it.

I fully understand that even though the broker confirms in writing you will pay my yard bills that mount up over seven months as you "process" my claim......you won't.

I fully understand that when I reluctantly agree to a settlement because your policy is about to run out after seven months of "negotiating"and will leave my wreck and personal belongings uninsured you will try to claim that I was using the boat as a houseboat and therefore no claim is payable. Even though I was sold a specialist bluewater long distance policy.

I fully understand I will be lucky to get anything /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'm sure we'd all appreciate a cryptic clue to help us identify the culprits and avoid them. If they treat you like that then they deserve to lose business.

Best way forward and make sure you understand what you are getting!
