What spec of block and tackle do you need for a 150 sq ft storm jib on 8mm wire for a 58ft high mast
The same as your kicker would be a good start.

The block and tackle I use is similar size to my rope kicker (12mm polyester) but with better quality blocks than the factory-fitted ones on the kicker. It cost about the same as a highfield lever, but is much more generally useful. All you need to do is to get enough tension so the sail luff is controlled as you hoist it without generating huge snatch loads mid-hoist from an uncontrolled luff. It does not need to be quite as bar-taut as the wound-up-on-a-turnbuckle main forestay. You are not going to be sailing at 35 or even 45 degrees to the wind under storm jib, so the reasons for ultra-tight stays do not apply. The same as your kicker would be a good start.
My kicker isn't a block and tackle. It is a mechanical device.
