Inland waterways of Europe

Not sure if you have actually seen the Nauticring map, certainly I haven't found anything else, anwb or otherwise, that has come anywhere close to it for the easy-to-follow info it provides. Love to hear which chart you have in mind, though. One other useful guide to have is the Wateralmanak 2 which not only provides much of the technical info which is summarised and easier to follow in the Inland Waterways guide I previously mentioned but also lists every marina (jachthaven) complete with contacts & prices etc. Incidentally, the other Wateralmanak 1 which comprises a set of rules in Dutch and is therefore about as useful as a wet roll of toilet paper to most of us, is a legal requirement for any boat visit to Holland. Each almanac is published every two years and the latest rule book must be carried. However, I'd be amazed if you were to be asked to prove you had one.

Hi,
that Nauticlink chart is new to me.

Just found that anwb chart:

The cover says "indeling vaarwegen op doorvaarthoogte"
Yep, wateralmanak 2 is very useful.Foto 1.jpgFoto 2.jpg

Yes, I also have that anwb map together with other more detailed ones. However, though they can be useful for some details, they are really rather limited on providing the two accurate measurements any newcomer to the Dutch inland waterways will need, ie. draft and air draft. For example, the anwb map only provides limited info about fixed bridge heights as it only shows 5 different air drafts, which are resultingly mostly approximate. You only have to look at the increment 3.40m to 8.50m to see this - so what if your boat needs 3.50m or over, presumably you have to limit yourself to the waterways shown to take 8.50m or above? It is also very inaccurate in many places. For example, the Mark & Dintel just north of Breda is shown as being only 3.40m air draft - amazing then that my own 5.00m high boat, which has been through there, still has its topsides. In fact, apart from 2 opening bridges on this waterway there are 10 fixed bridges all at 7.00m high. This is also confirmed on p256 of the Inland Waterways guide along with a lot more useful info such as the other important bit, the maximum permitted draft for this stretch, which is 2.6m and will save time trying to find it amongst a load of other clutter (in Dutch no less) in the otherwise useful Wateralmanak 2. But for copyright I would happily include a sample of the Nauticring map, however, by all means pm me for more info on this if you wish.
