In Spain you can get it over the counter at any pharmacist for about €5-€6 per inhaler without prescription, on an related note you can also get antibiotics over the counter which can be handy.
In France you should be able to have a consultation with a GP for 22€ so as to obtain a prescription. If you have a European health card you can be refunded all but a Euro of that and 60% of the cost of most medicines, with a lower percentage for unnecessary ones.
I don't know the rules Charles. There is no standard prescription form as in Britain, a French doctor simply writes out an order on his printed notepaper and they do not give their qualifications, just a description such as Medicin General. At the chemist everything is computerised, so maybe some check is made centrally.

Italy and Spain I buy antibiotics OTC no script. Can't easily buy generic Ibuprofen or Paracetamol -- only the expensive small branded packs are for General Sale. But when you know the pharmacy you can /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Codeine painkillers OK in Spain and France but they call the drug squad if you even say the 'C' word in Italy. Go figure.
