Information re Olympic Rowing at Dorney Lake

I didn't realise that the only entry point was via windsor rasecourse and over the bridge, as I assumed there would be an entrance over the other side (Taplow way) as well. I can see that main road being very busy during events. Not such an issue for us as we tend to go the marina friday evenings and therefore should miss most of the traffic, but I know on one saturday during the events, we have some guest's coming for a boat trip on a saturday morning. It may take them a bit longer to get to the marina.

I haven't spoken to the marina yet, but do they give out guest car park permits for people visiting boat owners in the marina?

also, is there any truth in the rumour that there will be a traffic light system in operation for the new bridge?
Thats a new one on me and can't see any reason why it would be necessary - the temporary bridge is no worse than many on the Thames and we all manage ok.

Re visitors parking permits just ask at the marina office.

Mike gates has kindly emailed me to say no problem getting visitor permits for the car park...

... now, where is the best website for advertising cheap car parking for olympic rowing events !!!

In the MDL blurb, what's the significance of flying a Bray or Windsor burgee? Is it some form of secret signal that gets you a secret wave back?

Maybe we could all raft up alongside Ross?

They are referring to MDL Bray/Windsor Marina burgees. I think the idea is to show that you have a berth in one of the marinas, because there will be no mooring between Bray & Boveney Locks.

Still can't see why flying a Burgee with your Marina makes any difference be it Bray, Windsor, or any other marina above or below the aforesaid.

I was told that there will be random checks by security on the river between the two locks. Flying our Windsor Burgee will show we belong on that stretch of the river.

I am assuming they would be suspicious of a boat seen regularly in that stretch not flying a Burgee.... could be up to something...

I cant see the point flying the Bray or Windsor burgee either, Perhaps its just a cunning plan by MDL for a bit of free advertising!!!

That could be true, but that would mean I am gullible and naive believing what I was told...

:D:D

Just like to comment on your very clean shiny boat.. Nice job done.. Fancy cleaning ours now? :D

Had a great time on Saturday cleaning.. You need to get yourself some EVM boat cleaner its great stuff, black streaks run for cover.

This is what MDL say:

Vessels without a marina berth in the reach will not be able to moor as all public mooring will be suspended. To this end it is highly recommended that you fly a Bray or Windsor burgee so the members on the locks can recognize you as a berth holder. These are available, with our compliments, from your marina office.

In other words, it will help identify your boat as a resident in the reach.

As will a BCC or TMYC burgee. Not sure if RYB berthholders have a burgee though...
