Hi,

I’m just here on the off-change that someone would know the owner of the Morag Mhor. After clearing out my attic I found the complete construction reports for the Morag Mhor, which was built at Saunders Roew, Anglesey, 1955. She was a twin screw, all welded aluminium motor yacht. I would love to give these documents to the present owner of the boat as I feel they would be a greatly wanted.

Any information would be gladly welcomed.

Good stuff. And if you ask Cardiff for a transcript of the register for vessel with official number 86319 you'll get Mr /Ms Barron's address.

HOWEVER - both MMs on the register look too small - 5 grt, which wouldn't be twin screw alloy yachts...

Morag Mhor

I was interested to see your email. I worked as a deckhand on the Morag Mhor in 1975/6 when it was run by British Aluminium. The yacht was kept at the Universal Shipyard in the Hamble during the winter and then in the summer we spent three months in the Channel Islands and three months in Benodet. Each weekend a different party of business people connected with British Aluminium and its key customers would come out for the weekend. A great time. The skipper was Brian Jelley who lived in Fareham and the cook was a very glamorous Chippy Kingston. I was only on the yacht for a year and don't know anything of its later history.

Hello, I note this thread has aged a bit but here goes!

I have no idea where the Morag Mhor is or who owns her if shes still afloat. However I know my late father sailed in her a lot and we have some cine films of her in use.

I can only imagine it was in the 1960's early 70's. My father worked for BACO aluminium at the time, his name was Glyn Jones.

I would love to find out more about her whereabouts. Many thanks.

This is really a blast from the past. I worked on Morag Mhor in the summer of 1976 as the chef, with grumpy Brian as the skipper and I think the crew member was called Phil. It was very very hot summer and we were in France and had to return to Southampton as the French wouldn’t give us any more water. It was great fun hosting British Aluminium clients every weekend, and was probably one of the easiest and most pleasant jobs I ever had. Katie

Hello Katie. I obviously made a huge impression on you during the summer of 76 on board the Morag Mhor. I did catch up with Brian in the 80s just as the Morag Mhor was sold an had the pleasure of a sail up the Solent with the new owner and Brian. I trust you are keeping well. Chris.

Hey there! MY boyfriend bought a boat several years back. Among the contents, he found a wooden etching bearing the title “Morag Mhor”.
we just decided to look up the meaning, and I found this forum. So fun!
maybe one of you may remember the item. Here’s a photo of it. And also a photo of his boat. Maybe there’s a reason it found its way in here.
