I keep the boat in Swansea but work in Cardiff. With the desire to make the most of our first summer for a few years I'm thinking of bringing the boat up to Cardiff for a week or two and using it as a base that I can use after work whilst waiting for my summer holiday to start.

I understand there are a number of options inside the barrage and would be grateful for suggestions as to which is likely to be most suitable.

Spoilt for choice really
I'm sur ome locals will be along with some pros & cons of each!

We keep our in Penarth quays marina. Nice secure berths, friendly staff and good shower and laundry facilities. Close to Tesco and 2 nice restaurants, Custom House which I haven’t yet used and the Oyster Catcher which serve good value meals and are great for families.

Petrol and Diesel available within the marina.

Good location for boat owners with dogs as there are a selection of walks available.

20 -25 minutes walk away from mermaid quay across the barrage and of course you can take the boat if you prefer.

Electricity available at most berths.

Cardiff marina have plenty of space are are new berths. I am at CBYC I know the do visitor berthing £10.00 for the night, you would need to give them a call to ask about a week or two. The bar serves food to and you can get a goo pint.

Cardiff Yacht Club don't charge, but especially for longer stays a donation to club funds is appreciated. We've put in extra visitors pontoons this year so there is plenty of space, showers, bar, etc and only a couple of minutes walk from Mermaid Quay.
We don't serve goo pints but we do good ones!
