The fine w.end weather means SWMBO suddenly thinks one of these would be a good idea. I think she means its a good idea for me to find somewhere to keep it on the boat, to pump it up, and then do all the work while she feigns a sore elbow or something while sitting in the rear seat.
Given this will probably get used once (I am hoping) what am I looking in terms of size, brand, practicality etc?
Preferably something that will puncture and sink on first use.

My SWMBO bought me one of these http://www.seaeagle.com/FastTrack.aspx for my birthday last year. She researched the market and decided that this one was the best on the market and I have to say that despite my initial cynicism, it is pretty stable and easily paddled so its more than just a toy and you can actually go places in it. We've got the 385FT Fast Track model with 2 seats. My SWMBO bought ours from the USA but I see they've got a UK dealer now http://www.spindriftltd.co.uk/
Luckily, we've got a handy place in our boat to store it almost fully inflated as we have an additional lazarette under the bathing platform

Having said that, if we couldn't store it almost fully inflated, I'm not sure we'd ever use it as blowing it up and deflating it every time would be a complete PITA so my advice would be to make sure you can store it somewhere fully inflated at least on a temporary basis whilst cruising before you spend a lot of money on one of these things

Choose one with a minimum number of chambers to inflate/deflate, and make sure it has boston valves not beach ball type, as they're such a pain to deflate. Alternatively choose one with a dozen beach ball type valves, and insist that H deflates it after use, and I guarantee your aim of only using it once will be met.

I once convinced myself that all the 10lb+ bass were congregating in areas too shallow to get to by boat, but un-fishable from the shore. The answer was of course a sea kayak.

Except that once bobbing around like a nob, £300 poorer, and slipping a disc with every cast, the big bass all decided they were actually much happier hanging around back at their favourite beaches and deep water wrecks.

Judging by the massive number of used kayaks on Ebay I suspect many other anglers have travelled this same road of enlightenment.

We bought a Seyvlor 2 seater & sold it within 2 months - it took quite a while to inflate all the chambers & was very heavy to paddle compared with a rigid one. It was not really big enough for 2 adults to use in comfort so we sold it on ebay for almost as much as we paid for it !

We bought a Seyvlor 2 seater (colorado) last year (?) and found it quite stable, packs up small, quick to inflate (£10 electric inflator from half0rds then finish off with footpump - all done in 15 mins - IF you can find the *&^$£%£ footpump!!)

Dunno about speed of paddling - but SWMBO and I can paddle (single paddle each) at just under 2 knots - we're thinking about getting double enders as I am a stronger paddler than her ...
