Inflatable dinghy lifeline rope

Anyone know what type of rope they use for the lifeline/ grablines that run along the side of inflatable tenders? I think it's some sort of hollow, "self splicing" multiplait, but can't seem to find any anywhere. It's unravelled itself from my tender. I could just got with some 3-strand, but would prefer to replace like for like. See photo:

Similar stuff is sometimes sold for waterski towing.

If I was replacing it I would use something different. Almost anything different! Something more UV resistant, easy on the hands, easier to splice and more secure.

If you have a rigger or sailmaker near by I'd ask if they have any lengths of outer braid stripped off when making tapered sheets or halliards; good grip, will lay flat and should be cheap.

I had the same problem, which may tell you what you need to know about the stuff.

A bit of retired laid mooring line suitably spliced worked wonders on my tender and provided a pleasant afternoon's occupation

Is it flat rather than rounded? It looks to be very like silver Lazy Jack line available from Force 4, Jimmy Green et al. I have seen 6mm and 8mm but not thicker........?

I just replaced mine with spliced floating braid to match the painter. Far more comfortable to hold when carrying and looks far better. Also easier to identify in a raft of similar tenders at pub closing time.

The positive thing about it is that it's very light for a rope of that size, even when wet.
And it doesn't hold much water.
Why add an extra 2 kilos to carry up the beach, or more water to fester when the dinghy is in the bag?
