Inexpensive compressed air solution

Air horns as made for cars with a 12v compressor would I would think be the best bet for your boat. We had a set on our rescue boat that lasted a long time. horns made of plastic.
For engine shut off plenty of solenoid options suggested. Another option you might consider is actuators for car central locking. Either as an add on kit or froma car breakers. They tend to have a motion of about 15mm and actually have a 12v motor driving a rack. So would need reverse 12v to reverse the action. Means engine will stop with not much more than a touch of the button but would need another switch for start again. all do able good luck olewill

Could get sneaky with the engine start signal (key or starter motor) to reset the stop.

Our rescue boat also has the same type of car air horns, That where I ot the idea from to convert the inners of my SS horns using cut down the trumpet to fit

I tried that with my mechanical shut off lever but you cannot keep the power on all the time as they are not continuous rated and if you use the circuit tp just pulse the power. I found that the vibration of the engine as its shutting down moved the actuator back to the running position.

I then used a wiper motor with micro switched to control the motor to give the required angle of movement back on forward. The worn drive then locked the motor in the required position when the power was off the motor.
